Prior to being called to the Ontario Bar, Margaret earned a B.A. in Political Science from McMaster University and JD from Osgoode Hall Law School. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Canadian Bar Association.

Margaret is a former Mayor of King Township and Councillor for the Regional Municipality of York. She was elected to these positions in 1994, and was re-elected in 1997, 2000, 2003 and 2006. Ms. Black is a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Award and the Rural Female Politician Award. She has served as a Director of Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, as a member of the Greater Toronto Agricultural Action Board, as the former Chair of the York Region Police Services Board, and as a Director of the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation.

Born raised on the family farm in King Township, Margaret attended Dr. G.W. Williams Secondary School in Aurora.  Margaret's legacy to serving her clients well is continued at the firm.
